Programmes

Excel Race Academy have built and structured a number of programmes for each and every age group to cater for athletes in education, in exam years and also those who have left school or with more flexibility academically.

We are happy to work with athletes to re-structure programmes to work around exams or other sporting commitments.

U10/U12 Programmes

We want to be as inclusive as possible at this early stage of a skier’s career. For this reason, we have built a program where there will be a designated ‘mini’s coach’ on core weeks. This will allow athletes to train age specific courses, hills and levels of intensity. We will be looking to increase athletes love for ski racing and snow sports as a whole. We will work around the academic program with increased flexibility as we understand that if athletes are doing limited weeks, then skiing is, of course, the priority.

Although we will never lose sight of the long-term objectives, the children’s training programme has three major British events we look to peak for. Our main events for the 2020/21 season are:

Ambition Championships

Welsh Championships

English Championships

British Championships

U14/U16 Programmes

As athletes grow and leave the world of stubbies, combi and minis racing behind we believe that this is a good time to bring in an increased level of structure and with this, increased levels of responsibility. From first year U14 onwards athlete will learn bit by bit how to tune and wax their skis, attend schooling Monday to Friday, have increased responsibility over their fitness and physical recovery (with guidance) and much more.

As with in U10/12s the main focus of the children’s programme is the four British events.

Ambition Championships

Welsh Championships

English Championships

British Championships

There is the expectation that U14/16 athletes will attend training weeks in the build-up to these events to best prepare.

FIS Programmes

FIS athletes maintain the same approach of always looking and working on a long-term basis. We want to break the mould of British ski racers relentlessly thinking about races and FIS points. Of course, our FIS athletes will race, a lot, but we only want to race when the correct amount of preparation has taken place.

The FIS program is built to follow the best snow conditions  around during the year for training.

We will target the British FIS races  so as to avoid any doubt with regards  to quotas and entry acceptance.
